Documents Required

Before starting your registration on Smartping, keep the following documents ready. All documents must be valid, legible, and match the details you enter in the registration form.

  • PAN Card of the business entity
  • GST Certificate (if applicable)
  • Certificate of Incorporation or Registration Certificate
  • Letter of Authorization on company letterhead (authorizing the signatory to register)
  • Authorized signatory's Aadhaar Card or Passport
  • Company email address (must be a company domain email — personal Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook addresses are not accepted)

Step-by-Step Registration Process

Follow these seven steps to register your business entity on the Smartping DLT portal. The entire process takes approximately 20–30 minutes to complete online.

1

Visit the Smartping Portal

Go to smartping.live and click on the "Register" or "New Registration" button on the homepage. This will open the entity registration form where you will begin entering your business details.

2

Select Your Entity Type

Choose the type of entity that best describes your organization. The available options are: Enterprise (private companies and LLPs), Startup (DPIIT-recognized startups), Government (central, state, or local government bodies), or Individual (sole proprietors and freelancers). Your selection determines which KYC documents are required in subsequent steps.

3

Enter Business Details

Fill in your company name (must match your incorporation certificate exactly), CIN or registration number, PAN number, GSTIN, and registered office address. Double-check all entries for accuracy — mismatches between form data and uploaded documents are the most common reason for rejection.

4

Enter Authorized Signatory Details

Provide the details of the person authorized to manage the DLT account: full name, designation, official email address, and mobile number. The email address must belong to the company domain (e.g., name@yourcompany.com). This person will receive all approval notifications and account credentials.

5

Upload KYC Documents

Upload scanned copies of the required documents: PAN card, GST certificate, certificate of incorporation, and the authorization letter on company letterhead. Ensure all files are in PDF or JPEG format, clearly legible, and under the file size limit specified on the portal (typically 2 MB per document).

6

Verify Mobile Number and Submit

An OTP will be sent to the mobile number you provided in Step 4. Enter the OTP to verify your number, review all the information you have entered, and click "Submit" to send your application for review.

7

Pay the Registration Fee and Wait for Approval

Complete the online payment of approximately Rs 5,000 + GST per year. The fee covers a one-year registration validity period. After payment, your application will be reviewed by the Smartping DLT team. Approval typically takes 2–5 business days. Once approved, you will receive your unique 19-digit Entity ID via email, which is required for all subsequent header and template registrations.

Registering Sender IDs (Headers)

Once your entity registration is approved and you have received your Entity ID, you can begin registering sender IDs (also called headers). Headers are the 6-character names that appear as the sender when your recipients receive an SMS.

1

Navigate to Header Management

Log in to your Smartping account and go to the Header Management section from the main dashboard. Click on "Add New Header" to begin.

2

Enter Header Details

Enter your desired 6-character header name. Select the header type: Transactional (alphabetic, e.g., SPEDGE) for OTPs, alerts, and service messages, or Promotional (numeric prefix assigned by the operator) for marketing and advertising messages.

3

Upload Supporting Documents and Submit

If required, upload a brand name authorization document or trademark certificate. Submit the header for approval. Header approvals on Smartping typically take 1–3 business days.

For detailed sender ID naming rules and best practices, see our DLT Sender ID guide.

Registering Content Templates

Every SMS you send must match a pre-approved content template registered on the DLT platform. Templates define the fixed text and variable placeholders in your messages.

1

Open Template Management

Navigate to the Template Management section in your Smartping dashboard and click "Add New Template".

2

Select Template Category

Choose the appropriate category for your template: Transactional (OTPs, alerts, order updates), Promotional (marketing, offers, discounts), Service Implicit (service messages to existing customers), or Service Explicit (service messages to customers who have opted in).

3

Compose Template Content

Write your message template using typed variable tags for dynamic content. TRAI now mandates specific tags such as {#numeric#} for numbers, {#alphanumeric#} for text/IDs, and {#url#} for links. For example: Dear {#alphanumeric#}, your OTP for login is {#numeric#}. Valid for 10 minutes. - SPEDGE. See our template approval guide for the full list of approved variable tags.

4

Associate Header and Submit

Link the template to one of your approved headers, then submit for review. Template approvals on Smartping typically take 24–72 hours. You will receive the approved Template ID, which must be passed in every API call when sending messages.

For template formatting rules and common rejection reasons, see our DLT template approval guide.

Tips for Faster Approval

Follow these best practices to avoid delays and rejections during the Smartping DLT registration process:

  • Ensure your company name matches exactly across all uploaded documents — even minor spelling differences (e.g., "Pvt" vs "Private") can cause rejection.
  • Use a company domain email address (e.g., name@yourcompany.com). Personal email providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook are not accepted.
  • Upload clear, legible scanned copies of all documents. Blurry or cropped images will be rejected during verification.
  • Complete all fields in the registration form, including optional fields. Incomplete applications take longer to process.
  • Double-check your PAN and GST numbers for typos before submitting. A single incorrect digit will result in a failed verification.
  • For common registration issues and how to resolve them, visit our DLT troubleshooting guide.
