About Vilpower DLT Portal
Vilpower is the DLT registration platform operated by Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi), formed from the merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular. Vilpower was one of the earliest DLT platforms launched in India, making it a pioneer in the telecom industry's compliance infrastructure. The platform has been operational since the initial TRAI DLT mandate and has processed registrations for a large number of enterprises across the country.
The Vilpower portal provides a complete suite of tools for entity onboarding, header (sender ID) registration, and content template management. Its well-established processes and extensive knowledge base make it a reliable choice, particularly for businesses that were early adopters of DLT compliance. The platform supports all entity types including enterprises, startups, government bodies, and individual senders.
Documents Required
Before you begin the registration process on Vilpower, gather the following documents. All documents must be current, legible, and consistent with the details entered in the registration form.
- PAN Card of the business entity
- GST Certificate (if applicable)
- Certificate of Incorporation or Registration Certificate
- Letter of Authorization on company letterhead
- Authorized signatory's Aadhaar Card or Passport
- Company email address (must be a company domain email — personal Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook addresses are not accepted)
Step-by-Step Registration Process
Follow these seven steps to register your business entity on the Vilpower DLT portal. The online process takes approximately 20–30 minutes, excluding the payment and approval waiting period.
Visit the Vilpower Portal
Go to vilpower.in and click on the "Register" button on the homepage. Select "Entity Registration" to begin the onboarding process.
Select Your Entity Type
Choose the entity category that matches your organization: Enterprise (private companies, LLPs, partnerships), Startup (DPIIT-recognized startups), Government (central, state, or local government bodies), or Individual (sole proprietors and freelancers). Your selection will determine the KYC requirements for subsequent steps.
Enter Business Details
Fill in your company name exactly as it appears on the incorporation certificate, CIN or business registration number, PAN, GSTIN, and registered office address. Vilpower also requires you to specify the estimated volume of SMS you plan to send per month — provide an honest estimate to avoid future account flags.
Enter Authorized Signatory Details
Provide the authorized signatory's full name, designation, official email address (company domain only), and mobile number. This person will be the primary point of contact for all DLT-related communications and approvals.
Upload KYC Documents
Upload scanned copies of your PAN card, GST certificate, incorporation certificate, and authorization letter on company letterhead. Accepted formats are PDF and JPEG, with a maximum file size of 2 MB per document. Ensure all text is clearly readable and no part of the document is cut off.
Verify Mobile Number and Submit
An OTP will be sent to the mobile number you entered. Enter the OTP to verify your identity, carefully review all the information you have provided, and click "Submit" to send your application for review.
Pay the Registration Fee and Wait for Approval
Complete the online payment of Rs 5,000 + GST per year. After payment, your application enters the Vilpower review queue. Approval typically takes 2–5 business days. Once approved, you will receive your unique 19-digit Entity ID via email, which you will need for all header and template registrations.
Registering Sender IDs (Headers)
Once your entity is approved on Vilpower, you can register sender IDs (headers) that appear as the sender name when your customers receive an SMS.
Navigate to Header Management
Log in to your Vilpower account and go to the Header section from the dashboard menu. Click "Add New Header" to start.
Enter Header Details
Enter your desired 6-character header name. Select the header type: Transactional (alphabetic sender IDs such as SPEDGE for OTPs, alerts, and service messages) or Promotional (numeric prefix assigned by the operator for marketing messages). Vilpower also allows you to specify the category of messages the header will be used for.
Upload Supporting Documents and Submit
Upload brand name authorization or trademark documents if required. Submit the header for approval. Header approvals on Vilpower typically take 1–3 business days.
For detailed sender ID naming rules and restrictions, visit our DLT Sender ID guide.
Registering Content Templates
Every SMS sent via the DLT ecosystem must match a pre-approved content template. Here is how to register templates on the Vilpower platform.
Open Template Management
Navigate to the Template section in your Vilpower dashboard and click "Add New Template".
Select Template Category
Choose the appropriate message category: Transactional (OTPs, account alerts, order updates), Promotional (marketing campaigns, offers, discounts), Service Implicit (service messages to existing customers), or Service Explicit (messages to customers who have explicitly opted in).
Compose Template Content
Write your message template using typed variable tags for dynamic content. TRAI now mandates specific tags such as {#alphanumeric#} for names/IDs, {#numeric#} for amounts, and {#url#} for links. Example: Dear {#alphanumeric#}, your payment of Rs {#numeric#} has been received. Transaction ID: {#alphanumeric#}. Thank you for choosing us. - SPEDGE. See our template approval guide for the full list of approved variable tags.
Associate Header and Submit
Link the template to one of your approved headers, then submit for review. Template approvals on Vilpower typically take 24–72 hours. Once approved, you will receive the Template ID required for sending messages via the API.
For template formatting rules, variable usage guidelines, and common rejection reasons, see our DLT template approval guide.

Tips for Faster Approval
Follow these recommendations to avoid common pitfalls and speed up your registration on Vilpower:
- Ensure your company name matches exactly across all uploaded documents — discrepancies such as abbreviations ("Ltd" vs "Limited") or missing punctuation will trigger a mismatch and delay approval.
- Use a company domain email address (e.g., name@yourcompany.com). Personal email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook are not permitted during registration.
- Upload clear, high-resolution scanned copies of all documents. Blurry, low-contrast, or partially visible scans are the most frequent cause of rejection.
- Complete every field in the registration form, including optional fields. Applications with missing information take longer to process.
- Verify your PAN and GST numbers carefully before submission. Even a single incorrect digit will result in automatic verification failure.
